Outreach Activities
I thoroughly enjoy communicating science to a broader audience and making my research accessible to the general public.
I was the coordinator of Pint of Science at Imperial College London between 2021 and 2023, and I am now a Manager for the London Chapter.
Public Engagement
- "Pollution pathways from land to the ocean" at the First Light Festival in Lowestoft (18-19 June 2022). In collaboration with the Natural History Museum and the Grantham Institute.
Science Communications
I have authored two articles for The Conversation:
- “For decades, scientists puzzled over the plastic ‘missing’ from our oceans – but now it’s been found” (https://tinyurl.com/backshore-plastics);
- “From Hobart, to London, to Dhaka: using cameras and AI to build an automatic litter detection system” (https://tinyurl.com/river-litter-AI).
