My laboratory is based at the MRC Centre for Molecular Bacteriology & Infection (CMBI) at the South Kensington campus. We study the role of inflammasome signalling networks in host immunity to infection. I also have a Satellite Group at the Francis Crick Institute, London.
Our interests include infection by bacteria such as Salmonella, enteropathogenic E. coli, Mycobacterium, and others. We address questions such as, how do inflammasomes help in defence against these pathogens? How do inflammasomes cause damage when they become overactive or deregulated?
We also work on mechanisms and consequences of antibiotic resistance in Enterobacter cloacae, a major drug-resistant nosocomial pathogen.
Follow our group on Twitter.
I am the Stream Lead for the Bacterial Pathogenesis & Infection stream within the MRes in Biomedical Research programme. If you are interested in a rotation project in my group, please email me and I'll be happy to chat to you. I also conduct Workshops for MRes/PhD students.
1. MRes in MRes Biomedical Research - Bacterial Pathogenesis and Infection
2. MSc in Immunology
3. BSc in Medical Sciences with Immunity and Infection
4. Biomedical Science degrees course on Molecular Basis of Bacterial Infection
5. Workshop on Biological Statistics
6. Workshop on Scientific Writing
If you are interested in our work, rotation projects are available! Please get in touch via email and come and meet me at the Flowers Bldg, South Kensington Campus.
