Summary

Summary

Anouk is a circular economy expert working as an independent research and design consultant. She supports clients in adopting circular economy principles and designing, implementing and validating systemic circular solutions. Anouk puts product and material flows at the centre of design and combines design engineering and systems thinking to create holistic system solutions in academic and industrial projects. She facilitates research and design on a socio-technical level, interrelating behaviour, business models, policy, data, infrastructure and material and product features. Her portfolio includes projects in various sectors, including fast-moving consumer goods (FMCGs), fashion, retail, health care and hospitality.

Anouk obtained her BSc and MSc in Industrial Design Engineering at Delft University of Technology, where she developed an interest in materials and their faith. She delivered ‘material driven design’ projects on waste and ephemeral materials before taking on commercial and technical roles in packaging and production at the KraftHeinz Company. Her PhD in Design Engineering at Imperial College London was co-funded by Procter & Gamble and focused on methods and tools to design systems holistically, leading to effective reuse and recycling in the FMCG sector. Anouk was the Head of Circular Economy at Common Seas and a Research Associate at Imperial College London.

Beyond her consultancy work, Anouk also dedicates herself to training, teaching, tutoring, and mentoring in the realm of sustainability and the circular economy and is developing a tool called the Flow Mapper

Current interests include systems thinking, systems design, material-driven design, sustainable materials, packaging innovation, material innovation, circular economy, design for behaviour, and service design.
