Summary

Summary

Dr. Ali Salehi-Reyhani

Ali originally trained as a physicist (BSc) specialising in optics and photonics (MSc) at Imperial. His research career has been at the frontier of multidisciplinary science, spanning protein and membrane chemical biology (MRes) where he developed methods of microscopy to monitor cell metabolism and pioneered platform technologies for quantitative single cell analysis (PhD/Postdoc). Ali is the Founder and Director of anywhereHPLC Ltd., a technology spin-out of Imperial College miniaturising high performance liquid chromatography to a handheld device.

PROSPECTIVE APPLICATIONS

I'm always looking for talented students and postdocs who want to join us. If you are interested in applying, please e-mail me your CV and a description of your research interests.

Our projects are ideal for enthusiastic and driven scientists who are excited by building and applying analytical instrumentation for translational research. You will work with bioengineers, chemists and clinicians which requires a highly multidisciplinary approach; analytical chemistry, droplet microfluidics, instrument design and engineering, programming, multidimensional single-molecule microscopy and systems biology.

PHD (& MRES) STUDENTSHIPS

We welcome talented students interested in pursuing postgraduate research in our group. All prospective applicants should have or expect to obtain a degree (or equivalent) in chemistry, biochemistry, physics, mathematics or a closely related discipline. Non-UK students must be able to obtain independent funding for their studies, which we will help in identifying schemes and preparing competitive applications. There are a number of funding schemes for PhD students, see for example Imperial’s scholarship search engine. Please contact me directly if you are interested.

POSTDOCTORAL OPPORTUNITIES

We welcome enquiries from potential postdoctoral fellows who wish to apply for independent research funding, which we will help in preparing a research proposal.  For funding, please check this list of research fellowships. We have a good track record of training and supporting the research of early career researchers e.g. Whitaker International Fellow and Marie Curie Fellows. Please contact me directly if you are interested.

UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES

Undergraduates who are interested in a summer research placement are encouraged to get in touch. We are a popular group for students wishing to develop real research experience due to our multidisciplinarity and wide-range of expertise. Please refer to Imperial’s UROP page for information about eligibility and sources of funding before contacting me if you are interested.
