Summary
Álvaro is a PhD student carrying out interdisciplinary research on ecosystem restoration.
Currently, he focuses on understanding the factors driving the adoption, spread and abandonment of woodland expansion interventions in the UK. The main objective of his research is to produce key insights to inform the design, priorities and delivery of future ecosystem restoration efforts to maximise environmental and social benefits and minimise costs. Contributing to unleash the huge potential of ecosystem restoration to address the current global environmental crises and enhance biodiversity and human well-being. In the past, Álvaro has researched the effectiveness of grassland restoration interventions at a global scale.
Álvaro holds a BSc in Biology from the University of Alicante (Spain) and a MSc in Conservation Science from Imperial College London (UK). He is based in the Centre for Environmental Policy at Imperial College London and is affiliated to the Transition to Zero Pollution Initiative, the Science and Solutions for a Changing Planet Doctoral Training Partnership (SSCP - DTP) and the London Interdisciplinary Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership (LISS-DTP).
