Summary

Photocatalytic Anodes for Hydrogen Production

I study how metal oxides fabricated by chemical vapour deposition may be used as nanostructured photocatalytic anodes for the oxidation half-reaction of water splitting. I measure their physical characteristics and photochemical performance. I also investigate the effect of scaling-up to large-scale prototype devices.

Photocatalytic semiconductor device-level modelling

show research

I model light absorbing semiconductors in MATLAB to simulate the current-voltage curves of tandem photoelectrochemical-photovoltaic devices.

Hydrogen energy systems-level modelling

show research

I use systems-level modelling in Vensim to evaluate the energy return on energy invested for potential photovoltaic-coupled electrolyser and photoelectrochemical water splitting facilities.
