MacTavish C, Bond D, Doré O, et al., 2006, SPIDER: A balloon-borne polarimeter for measuring large angular scale CMB B-modes
SPIDER is a balloon-borne polarimeter that is designed to measure CMB B-mode polarization. The experiment is scheduled to launch from Alice Springs, Australia in December of 2009 and will target large angular scales where the B-mode signal from primordial gravity waves dominates. In a mid-latitude, around the world, 25 day flight SPIDER will map out roughly 50% of the sky. The instrument will observe in five freqencies ranging from 80 GHz up to 275 GHz enabling accurate characterization of the interstellar dust foreground.

The BOOMERANg-B03 experiment has performed three surveys (deep, shallow, galactic) of selected regions of the southern sky. Maps of the Stores parameters I. Q, U at 145, 245, 345 GHz have been obtained, covering several hundreds of square degrees, with a resolution of ~ 10'. In the deep and shallow surveys, both at high Galactic: Latitudes, the 1 45 GHz I map is dominated by CMB anisotropy. The angular power spectrum cj 1 is consistent with previous measurements from BOOMERanG-B98 . with extended multipoles range and improved precision. A polarized CMB component is detected in the deep survey. The level and shape of cjE and cfE are consistent with the CMB polarization expected in the adiabatic inflationary model best fitting the c7r. Foregrounds are shown to be negligible in the deep survey at 145 GHz.

The derivation of constraints on a range of cosmological parameters by using cosmic microwave background (CMB) observations was discussed. Weak nucleosynthesis constraint was also considered in the analysis. It was concluded that combination of CMB and weak lensing data provides some of the most powerful constraints available in cosmology.
