Our team develops fundamental and translational research focussing on ischaemic disease, diabetes cardiovascular complications, cardiac surgery and cardio-oncology. We aim to decipher the molecular causes of cardiovascular pathologies and to develop novel approaches of cardiovascular protection and repair.  Moreover, we investigate new biomarkers to support the development of clinical studies and improve clinical practice.

We are part of local, national and international research networks, including a Leducq Transatlantic Network of Excellence in Vascular miRNAs (MIRVAD ), the BHF Centre of Regenerative Medicine  an EEU COST action on Cardio RNAs and a large EEU grant MEDIRAD assessing the collateral damage of the impact of low dose radiotherapy.

I have recently transferred my group to Imperial College London from the University of Bristol, where I have maintained open collaborations.

Areas of particular expertise and interests are the following:

  • Regulatory RNAs
  • Extracellular vesicles
  • Therapeutic angiogenesis
  • Diabetes and Ischaemic disease
