This paper presents a novel approach for designing miniaturized distributed lowpass filters. We propose to utilize microstrip transmission lines based on multilayer substrates which support slow-electromagnetic propagation. Based on such substrates, very compact LPFs are presented with cut-off frequencies in the low GHz region, with the measured insertion loss varying from 0.5-1.7 dB and with a return loss better than 7 dB from 100 MHz-2 GHz.

We report an investigation on the feasibility of developing distributed circuit elements and filters using standard complementary metal-oxide-silicon (CMOS) technologies. We propose to exploit the low loss interfacial polarisation propagating modes known to occur on multilayered substrates to realise a high effective substrate dielectric constant. Our approach allows the realisation of physically small but electrically large distributed circuit elements and filters on a standard CMOS substrate without recourse to high K materials

Maurino R, Papavassiliou C, 2005, A 10mW 81dB cascaded multibit quadrature ∑Δ ADC with a dynamic element matching scheme, Pages: 451-454
A multibit 2-0 cascaded quadrature ∑Δ modulator is presented which attains 81 dB dynamic range in a 200kHz bandwidth at an IF of 10MHz. A simple dynamic element matching (DEM) scheme minimizes the mirror in-band aliases caused by mismatch between the I and Q channel. The integral non-linearity (INL) errors from the multibit feedback DAC are noise-shaped by a quadrature variant of the data weighted averaging algorithm (DWA). Clocked at 13.1MHz, the ADC consumes 10mW from a 2.1V supply. ©2005 IEEE.
