Summary
My work investigate the role of DMA in Zn efficiency in rice, including i) the setting up of experimental methods to determine metal-MA complexes using LC-MS/MS; ii) to grow rice and barley in Zn and Fe deficient systems in the laboratory and the field; and iii) to determine stability constants using electrochemical and spectrophotometric techniques.
Collaborations: Dr Gerald Larrouy-Maumus and Prof. Colin Turnbull groups at the Life Science department, Prof. Dominik Weiss at the Earth Science & Engineering department, Prof. Ramon Vilar from the Chemistry department at Imperial College London.
Other collaborators are Prof. Wissuwa from IRRI/JIRCAS, Dr Suzuki from Aichi Steele and Prof Garcia from University of Valencia.
Previous work includes the development of eco-compatible protocols for the remediation of agricultural soils, including the characterization, analytical assessment of element mobility/bioavailability and amendment application in the remediation of soils polluted by potentially toxic metals (PTMs).
