Summary

Diego Freire is a PhD candidate in The Sargent Centre for Process Systems Engineering at Imperial College London. He is currently studying different pathways for the production of sustainable synthetic fuels with the potential to replace conventional gasoline, jet fuel and diesel, focusing on their techno-economic and environmental analyses. His research aims to find feasible and reliable production processes from CO2 to help in the decarbonisation of the transportation sector.

Previously, he worked in the molecular modelling of refinery processes at the University of Manchester, where he earned his M.Sc. in Advanced Process Integration and Design. In the last ten years, Diego has been involved in several academic and consulting projects in collaboration with different institutions throughout his career. He was awarded three scholarships for postgraduate studies in recognition of his academic excellence.
