I started work in the department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 1990 as a laboratory technician trouble-shooting and repairing equipment and assisting in managing the undergraduate laboratories. In 1999 The department sponsored me to study a degree with the Open University and in 2004 I graduated with a first Class Honours in Information Technology and Computing.  I also completed a postgraduate course in databases. The following year I achieved charted IT professional status with the BCS (British Computing Society).
I have a passion for developing software. Over the years I have been involved in various software projects for the department.

In 2012 I was promoted to technical services manager in order to lead the a team of technicians that serve the department. Our work covers a very wide spectrum from facilities, stores and laboratory management to electronic, mechanical and software engineering. I am proud to manage such a dedicated and talented team of people.

Outside of work I am a keen photographer. This hobby has now found its way into my work activities  - I undertake ad-hoc photography for the department.
I am also the guitarist in a department rock band composed mainly of the technicians. we usually preform once a year at the department revue.
