Surface Processes - ESE-UG2.27

Aims

An introduction to the physical processes operating at the Earth’s surface, and how these lead to the formation of sedimentary rocks.

Objectives:

To understand how knowledge of physical processes operating at the Earth’s surface allows interpretation of sediments and sedimentary rocks. To have knowldge of the main sedimentary processes operatng at the Earth's surface. To have knowledge of the principle sedimentary siliciclastic depositional environments and how they are interconnected.  To be able to describe, identify and interpret common sedimentary structures, and to understand their environmental significance. To have knowledge of how to describe sedimentary rocks and successions in the field.

Coursework:  No assessed coursework. There will be unassessed practicals completed during timetabled class for which feedback will be provided.
