Summary

Duncan Rogers is a Reader in Respiratory Pharmacology in the Section of Airway Disease at the National Heart & Lung Institute. He obtained a BSc in Applied Biology from Brunel University and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education and a PhD in Physiology from the University of London. He is a coordinator of a Respiratory Science BSc module, as well as undertaking undergraduate teaching in a range of disciplines, including Pharmacology and Cell Biology.

Dr Rogers has a long-standing interest in pathophysiological mechanisms underlying lung inflammation in respiratory diseases such as asthma, chronic bronchitis and cystic fibrosis. He has a particular focus on understanding how bronchitis develops in different lung conditions. He has more recent interests in the potential of plant-derived 'phytoceuticals' as therapeutics for respiratory diseases.

Dr Rogers is a Fellow of the Society of Biology (formerly Institute of Biology), as well as member and previous Chairman of the British Association for Lung Research, and member of the British Pharmacological Society and The Physiological Society. He has also been a member of the editorial boards of Thorax and the British Journal of Pharmacology, a member of the Public Relations Committee of the Institute of Biology and of the Scientific Committee of the British Lung Foundation.
