Summary

Emiliano Bilotti is Senior Lecturer in Multifunctional Polymer Composites in the Department of Aeronautics of Imperial College London.

He joined Imperial in 2022 after having held various academic positions within the School of Engineering and Materials Science at Queen Mary University of London, from Academic Fellow to Lecturer, Senior lecturer and Reader.

Prior to his academic career, he was the Research and Technology Manager of Nanoforce Technology, Ltd., a company involved in industrial type R&D in the area of (nano)materials processing (2010-2011).

In 2009, he completed his doctoral studies at the Materials Department at Queen Mary University of London, on polymer/clay nanocomposites and new environment friendly flame retardant materials - within the frame of the European STRP project “Nanofire” – followed by a postdoc (2009-2010) on smart textiles, within the “Inteltex” FP7 EC project.

Prior to moving to the U.K., he graduated ‘cum laudae’ in Materials Engineering (‘laurea’ degree, equivalent to MEng) from the University of Naples "Federico II" (Italy) in 2004.

Potential PhD opportunities

Emiliano Bilotti’s research group is looking to welcoming outstanding, highly motivated PhD students and researchers with a passion for Materials and Grant Challenges, like Green Transport, Energy Storage/Generation, Sustainability, Environmental Remediation.

Prospective students/researcher are welcome to contact Emiliano Bilotti via email, providing:

  • Evidence of excellence in Engineering and Materials Science (or related disciplines).
  • Information on a proposed funding source, duration of funding.
  • A very brief technical description of the research topic of interest.

- A funded PhD scholarship (preferentially for UK Home students) will soon be available and advertised for a start in Sept/Oct 2023

- PhD students are encouraged to apply for the IC President's PhD Scholarship. Three rounds, deadline: 8 Nov - 20 March.
