Eduardo Candela is a PhD student at the Centre for Transport Studies (CTS) since 2019, and is also a member of both the Transport Systems and Logistics Laboratory and the Personal Robotics Laboratory. His research focuses on safety modeling of Autonomous Vehicle Control Systems using Reinforcement Learning. He is mainly interested in the application of Artificial Intelligence and Optimization to complex engineering settings, such as Autonomous Vehicles.

Eduardo holds a MSc in Operations Research from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), a BSc in Industrial Engineering from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), and a BSc in Mechatronics (Robotics) Engineering from ITAM as well.

After his master's studies, he worked in Silicon Valley for 2 years as a Data Scientist at Tesla and the Bosch Centre for Artificial Intelligence; he also worked part-time as a research assistant at Harvard University.
