PhD title: Investigating the Impact of Green Infrastructure on the Multi-dimensional Sustainability Profiles of Vineyards in the UK – An Activities-based Approach

Ebba Engstrom is a PhD student based at the Centre for Environmental Policy, where they explore the sustainability impacts of green infrastructure in vineyards in the UK. More precisely, their project will hone in on how vineyard-based activities change in association with the implementation and presence of green infrastructure (e.g. cover crops, hedges, flower strips) and the multi-dimensional sustainability impacts which arise from these. As such their project applies an environmental, economic, and socio-cultural lens - applying environmental impact assessment, economic analysis, and mixed-method approaches. The project will further the understanding of the sustainability impacts associated with green infrastructure in the context of vineyards, but which will also be applicable to similar agricultural fields. More so, the project holds strong policy relevance, especially in the current UK context with roll-out of the Environmental Land Management schemes.
