Esther Lie is a Community Engagement Coordinator in the Environmental Research Group. She is responsible for developing and delivering local engagement in White City for the West London Healthy Home and Environment Study - an ground-breaking indoor Air Quality study working with over 100 families. This will be one of the largest research projects Imperial will have embarked on collaborating with a local community. Her work was Highly Commended for the President's Achievement Award for Societal Engagement in 2023.

Her passions lie in youth participation, cultural production and taking action towards environmental justice in our current Earth crises.

Esther has a BSc (INT) in Biology and The History of Philosophy of Science from the University of Leeds. Her experience in the arts, science education, festivals, museums and heritage includes roles with the Science Museum, V&A, Museum of London and Science Gallery London. She was part of the SMASHfestUK team winning the 'Outstanding Contribution to the Local Community Award' with Times Higher Education in 2018. She also has a Postgraduate Certificate in Ecology, Culture & Society - critical inter-disciplinary environmental studies from Goldsmiths.

Currently, she is studying part-time for an MSc in Environment, Politics and Development at SOAS, with particular interests in Feminist approaches to Degrowth and Just Transitions.

Get in touch if you would like to work together on environmental policy, advocacy, or meaningful and equitable participation.
