Summary
Estera Boncea is a doctoral student based in the Global Digital Health Unit, with an interest in patient flow and nosocomial infections.
Her doctoral work leverages routinely collected data to investigate novel risk factors and transmission patterns of infectious pathogens in hospitals. Her research primary focuses on utilising mathematical modelling, data visualisation as well as qualitative methods to assess the impact of patient movement within and between hospitals on the risk of becoming infected.
Prior to beginning her PhD Estera spent a year working in healthcare communications consulting, and obtained a Master’s degree in Public Health from Imperial College London.
Estera is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) through the London Interdisciplinary Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership (LISS DTP).
