A few keywords describing my research:

- phylogenetics

- microbial ecology

- pangenome

- horizontal gene transfer

I'm currently investigating the dynamics of evolution of antibiotic resistance in enterobacteria. Using information from databases of complete bacterial genomes, I reconstruct the scenarios of evolution for each homologous gene family in a pangenome, to track the transmission of resistance-conferring genes. In particular, I'll focus on how mobile genetic elements function as vessels of in transfer for resistance genes, and how selection on phenotypes coded by other genes that are co-located on those mobile elements can promote the propagation of resistances.
