Summary
As Research Development Manager at the Department of Mathematics at Imperial College I play a key role in liaising with academics and forging new contacts, strengthening existing collaborations and setting up dynamic alliances and partnerships with industry and other external organisations to increase, enhance and maintain the Department’s links with industry, charitable trusts and research organisations.
Brnging a wealth of knowledge and experience in business development and in commercialisation of cutting-edge technologies, I focus on supporting a comprehensive departmental and college strategy by scouting and networking external organisations with internal expertise, proposing and implementing collaboration models to enhance current activities and supporting in the the development of high-quality, high-value collaborative research funded proposals for exploiting key driver technologies of digital transformation towards societal impacts.
With a Master degree and a PhD in Chemical Engineering -the latter from UCL, I bring prior professional life experience within world-class universities in the UK (Brunel, and UCL) industrial contexts - Ansaldo Ricerche and TEA Sistemi a a leading international player in the power generation industry and in an SME spin-out of University of Pisa, fulfilling a broad range of roles (i.e., Proposal Manager, Innovation and IP Manager, and Business Development Manager) across highly technological sectors.
With a broad interest in science and technology innovation spanning from Renewable Energy, Circular Economy, Decarbonisation, Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and Waste-stream valorisation I led on the development and commercialisation of a diverse portfolio of innovations through licensing and spin-out creation into different industrial sectors type (such as energy, environment, food, health, finance, security) and gained significant experience in exploiting disruptive technologies as a key driver for social innovation and societal growth.
As Innovation Project Manager in TEA Sistemi (ISIPM qualified), with a proven track record of more than 20 high-impact research and innovation projects within the O&G, energy and environmental sectors - I successfully managed the development, design, construction and qualification of innovative products and equipment (e.g., multiphase separators, metering devices), energy-related systems and software tools throughout their entire lifecycle. As Intellectual Property Manager in the same company, responsible for the management of a portfolio consisting of 15 patents, I oversaw competitive advantage analysis and development of business cases of highly technological devices/processes towards their protection and exploitation.
As Business Development Manager at Ansaldo Ricerche - the R&D Company of Finmeccanica, in charge of the long-term company strategic goals through growth, maintenance, and deployment of relationship networks and implementation of marketing strategy, business and commercialization plans I was appointed as company representative in the European Industrial Grouping (i.e. Member of the Advisory Council of the Joint Technology Initiative (JTI) within European Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology Platform (HFP)). In this position I attended an executive course at INSEAD on marketing strategy. Previously always at Ansaldo Ricerche I was R&D project manager, dealing with technical and financial coordination and management of EU and national R&D projects focusing on integrated power generation from renewables.
