Hornsby PR, Wang J, Cosstick K, Rothon R, Jackson G, Wilkinson Get al., 1994, Mechanism of fire retardancy of polyamides filled with magnesium hydroxide, Progress in rubber and plastics technology, Vol: 10, Pages: 204-220, ISSN: 0266-7320

The combustion characteristics of polyamides, with specific reference to selected PA 6 and PA 66 compositions containing well characterized magnesium hydroxide fillers of different origin are considered. Factors influencing the resulting mechanisms of fire retardancy in the polymers are discussed. Emphasis is placed on their tendency to drip during burning and effects of the inorganic phase on matrix decomposition behaviour.
