Summary

Gill Martin is the Senior Support Technician/ Departmental Safety Office for Inflammation, Repair and Development, Respiratory Sciences, National Heart and Lung Institute (NHLI) Imperial College London based in the Sir Alexander Fleming building at the South Kensington Campus.

Prior to joining the NHLI in September in 1997, she worked as a Technician in the department of Physiology and Biophysics at St Marys Hospital Medical School and before that for Biorex Laboratories in Islington.

In 2009 she gained her NEBOSH certificate, she also completed the Biosafety Practitioner course (Level 1) this year.

In her current role Gill manages the laboratories and laboratory services for Inflammation, Repair and Development. This includes ensuring the smooth running of the laboratories and giving expertise, advice and support to all the staff and students in the section on matters of Health and Safety.

In 2011 Gill joined the Health and Safety Management Group, which carries out safety inspections of all NHLI sections. This also involves liaising with other members of the team and the NHLI Safety Compliance Manager, attending committee meetings and updating inspection forms and documents and ensuring standards are met and maintained.
