Life on Mars

Current research questions:

  • How much water existed on the surface/sub-surface of Mars during the late-Noachian to early-Amazonian (around 3-4 billion years ago)?
  • Was Mars' climate generally cold and dry or warm and wet, and how stable were these conditions?
  • Did Mars' northern hemisphere host an ocean?

  • Analysis of sediments and stratigraphy via rover imagery and orbital mapping to infer depositional settings.
  • Comparison with terrestrial analogous sediments.
