Greg Parston is Executive Advisor to Professor Lord Ara Darzi, Director of the Institute of Global Health Innovation at Imperial College London. Greg is responsible for leading the IGHI’s global research on diffusion of healthcare innovation, use of behavioural simulations in policy-making and citizen engagement in public policy debates.

In 1988, he co-founded the Office for Public Management, an organizational development company that assists public service agencies, which he led as Chief Executive. Following OPM’s conversion to an employee-owned trust in 2006, Greg was asked to establish Accenture’s global Institute for Health & Public Service Value, which he directed until 2011.

Over the years, Greg has personally advised many organisation leaders, including at the British Museum, the Audit Commission, the BBC, the NHS, the Metropolitan Police, the Wellcome Trust, the Gates Foundation, and the World Bank. He continues to provide advice to public service and not-for-profit organisations on governance, strategy and change.

Among other appointments, he has served on HM Treasury’s Public Sector Productivity Panel, chaired the Barrow-Cadbury Commission on Young Adults and Criminal Justice and initiated the Independent Commission on Good Governance in Public Services.

Currently, he is the Chair of the Dartington Hall Trust, the Collaborate Foundation and English Touring Theatre.

Earlier in his career, Greg worked as a senior manager, including as Deputy Director of the King’s Fund College in London and Vice President of Downstate Medical Center in New York City. He has been on the faculty of New York University and a visiting lecturer at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.

Greg has written many articles and papers on public service management and has twice received the European Healthcare Management Association’s award for innovation.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Greg was educated in architecture and economics at the University of Michigan and earned a PhD in planning at the University of London as a Marshall Scholar.
