Summary

Overview

As a scholar in visual cultures my current research follows three different strands: first, the representation of racialised and genderqueer identity(ies) as part of a strategy of representation on screen (media and film) and on onstage productions (theatre) with a special focus on Continental America, and the African and Caribbean diasporas. Secondly, the socio-political intersections of race, gender, sexuality and disability as depicted in visual cultures (focusing on racial and social stigmas in artistic and photographic discourses of ethnicity,  sexuality and disability). Finally, the relationship between exploitation media and film, gender-based violence and transnational identities.
