Summary
Grigoris is a Research Associate in the department of Bioengineering focusing on the development of affordable, functional prosthetic and orthotic devices for patients in low-to-middle income countries. Previously, he was working within the Centre for Blast Injury Studies (CBIS) at Imperial College London focusing is on the response of the lower limb in under-body blast and the effect of the posture on the injurious outcome. He received his PhD in heel biomechanics under blast conditions in 2016 from Imperial College. After graduating, he participated for 6 months in a project funded by Find A Better Way aiming to develop functional and sustainable prosthesis for knee disarticulation amputees in landmine-affected countries.
Before joining Imperial College, he graduated from the department of Mechanical Engineering at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece. His final year thesis included the ergonomics analysis of the driving posture in the cockpit of a racing car as a member of the Aristotle Racing Team which leaded to applying for the MSc course in Biomedical Engineering at Imperial College London where he graduated from in 2012.
His scientific interests include computational modelling including forward and inverse finite element modelling of biological structures, experimental and computational derivation of complex material properties, lower limb biomechanics, and implants and prosthetics design. A list of Grigoris's publications can be found on Google Scholar.
