Entrepreneurial skills development for staff
I coordinate and deliver the short-workshop provision of the PFDC, oversee most of the external expressions of interest we receive, and coordinate external programmes such as the European Talent Academy.
I coordinate the Imperial Postdocs and Fellows Enterprise Network promoting consultancy and business opportunities and training for staff alongside Enterprise at Imperial.
I have developed some and currently deliver over 20 workshop sessions to groups of up to 40 people. My sessions include:
- Academic skills (CV, Fellowship and Lectureship applications, interviewing for academic roles)
- Professional development (Career goals, Skills analysis, Skills based CVs and cover letters, job search)
- Social media and how to use these tools for networking and increasing visibility (LinkedIn, Crafting your professional narrative, Increasing your visibility).
I also provide 1:1 support to research staff and advice on career development, job changes, fellowship and lectureship applications, and interviews. I chair and manage mock interviews for any role postdocs and fellows apply to: academic or not.
Contact the Postdoc and Fellows Development Centre to arrange a one-to-one or mock interview.
Background and Experience
I have 10 years of research expertise in cellular and molecular biology having worked in auto-immune and rheumatic diseases. I am Portuguese and moved to the UK in 2015 for my postdoc at the Royal Veterinary College.
I am passionate about social media and technologies to improve accessibility and learning. I managed the social media pages of the RVC Researcher Association, represented postdocs and contract researchers in several Committees, and organised events/researcher training, alongside the HR staff department manager.
