Summary

Izhar holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering with multidisciplinary research focused on resources sustainability, low-carbon industries, economy-environment decoupling, and industrial symbiosis. Izhar is passionate about assessing the environmental impact of industries and cities, their carbon footprint, and ways to reduce net greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. With the rise in global GHG emissions, Izhar is working towards synthesising technological solutions aided by advanced GHG accounting methods for urban and industrial decarbonisation and climate change mitigation.

Izhar is experienced in sustainability evaluations through life cycle impact analysis, socio-economic policy assessment, material/substance flow accounting, and system efficiency optimisation.

Izhar also works as an Independent Consultant with Imperial Consultants (ICON), and serves in the steering committee of the Imperial Life Cycle Network, as an Assistant Supervisor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and as a Departmental Representative of the Postdoc and Fellows Development Centre.

Izhar actively takes part in societal engagement and welcomes all invitations to engage with the public and media. Recently, Izhar hosted 2 workshops and an exhibition at the Great Exhibition Road Festival showcasing the science behind climate change and sustainable choices people could make. Izhar was part of the Imperial COP26 delegation for the UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow.
