Aims

Strategic Management is the process of setting long-term direction for an organisation. It is concerned with how an organisation prepares for the future, its overall strategy and how the strategy is formulated and deployed. This module will make full use of key contemporary models and concepts of strategic management and apply them to global industry.

The focus of the module is on contemporary issues and practices that the industry faces. This will be framed by the complexity of technology driven global organisations. In order to prepare the student for the 21st century, this module further aims to raise the student’s awareness of strategic challenges in the global economy with numerous examples of organisations operating in different parts of the globe. Specific challenges will be covered – generating competitive advantage, breakout strategies and generating sustainable business models.
