Summary

Dr Joy H. Farnaby graduated in 2006 from the University of Sussex with an MChem degree in Chemistry with European Studies (German), which included an Erasmus research year at the Ruhr University Bochum. She remained at Sussex for her DPhil in Organometallic Chemistry with Professor F. Geoffrey N. Cloke, FRS. This was followed by postdoctoral research in the USA, at Yale with Associate Professor Nilay Hazari and at the University of California Irvine with Professor William J. Evans. She returned to the UK in 2012 for a further PDRA position at Edinburgh with Professor Polly L. Arnold. In October 2014 she started at Imperial College London as a Junior Research Fellow in Chemistry, under the mentorship of Professor Nicholas Long.

Her group's research interests are in the bonding, structure and magnetism of the lanthanides and actinides and in the design, development and applications of new materials containing these elements.
