Mr Jerome Fourre is a PhD candidate at Imperial College London, supervised by Professor Justin Mason (Vascular Science, NHLI) and Professor Cesare Terracciano (Myocardial Function, NHLI). His studies and work are funded by the British Heart Foundation (BHF) since 2015, as part of a 4 years MRes/PhD studentship program.
Mr Fourre graduated in Biology at the University of Poitiers (France) in 2013. He then studied a 2-years MSc. in biomedical research at the University of Poitiers (2015) during which he entered Imperial College London for a laboratory experience project of 8 months. Followed an MRes (2016) and an ongoing PhD in cardiovascular research at Imperial College London.
Though Mr Fourre has initially a background in cardiac electrophysiology (particularly in the technique of patch-clamping), his interests have broadened since his arrival at Imperial College London. Mr Fourre's main interest is the heterocellularity of the heart, which contributes to cardiac function, plasticity and disease in various ways. This is correlated to inflammation, another interest of Mr Fourre who works to challenge our traditional understanding of inflammation in the heart. In the context of cardiac inflammation, this involves work at the levels of genetics, transcriptional (co-)regulation, cellular signalling pathways, intercellular communications and tissue structure or function.
