Summary

Jo is a Principal Teaching Fellow in Medical Education based within the Centre for Higher Education Research and Scholarship at Imperial College, London. She runs a number of faculty development workshops aimed at those who teach Imperial College Medical Students and teaches and supervises on the MEd in University Learning and Teaching.  Jo is also Director of Postgraduate Studies for the Centre for HE Research and Scholarship and Lead for Education Research in the Medical Education Innovation and Research Centre

Prior to joining Imperial College, Jo worked as an Educationalist at the Royal College of Physicians, leading education courses for doctors both in the UK and overseas. Previously, Jo worked in the further education sector where she acted as both a head of department and a head of year.

Jo has a background in psychology and education, a MEd in Educational Leadership and completed her doctoral studies in medical education at King’s College London. She is also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.  

Her research focuses on the professional identity development of medical educators, gender issues within higher education, learning from role models, and social accountability.
