Jonathan’s research interests span non-communicable disease epidemiology, nutrition and dietary policy. Through on-going collaborations with the University of Liverpool, Harvard and Tufts, he is modelling the effects of a range of dietary policies upon non-communicable diseases. This work quantifies the effectiveness, cost-effectiveness and equity benefits of population level and targeted interventions.
Jonathan is also investigating the large range of diabetes sequelae, including cancer and common infections, and the role of nutrition in this. His work has led to publications in journals such as the Nature, British Medical Journal, Circulation, the European Heart Journal and the Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology.
Alongside his research interests, Jonathan is part of a team developing a free, accessible online resource for mothers-to-be and partners with information from clinicians to help inform mothers during their pregnancy journey - www.mybabymanual.co.uk
