Jürgen Pozimski is Reader in Accelerator Physics. As part of the long term research and development program for a future neutrino factory ( he is involved in the development of the first part of the megawatt class proton accelerator (front end) which can also be used for an upgrade of the pulsed neutron spallation source ISIS at the Rutherford Laboratories ( Within the Front End Test Stand project (FETS - ) Imperial is responsible for the main accelerating structure (RFQ) and the beam diagnostics. At the moment one post-doctoral researchers,  one mechanical engineer and one electrical engineer are engaged across the project. Within UKNF he is co-leading the design work package and is member of the Executive Board. He is coordinating the EUROnu design study work package 3 (Neutrino Factory , ) and is convener of the Linac/RLA section in the International Design Study for a Neutrino Factory ( ) and member of the IDS-NF steering group.

Additionally to his involvement in the Design of a Neutrino Factory he is actively engaged in the Design work for PAMELA, an FFAG based Hadron Therapy machine, and representing Imperial within the British Accelerator Science and Radiation Oncology Consortium (BASROC, ).

His scientific interests are particle dynamics concentrating on collective effects as emittance growth and space charge with special emphasis towards space charge compensation, novel acceleration and focusing structures and non destructive beam diagnostics.

After his doctorate at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University Frankfurt he received a research grant by Deutsche Forschungs Gemeinschaft (DFG 1997-1999) and led in 2000 the work on low energy particle transport and beam diagnostics in Frankfurt. In 2001 he worked on beam transport and space charge effects at the Ludwig-Maximillians-Universität München and was afterwards lecturer at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University Frankfurt until the end of 2004 when he joint Imperial College to work on the design for a future Neutrino factory and on the upgrade of ISIS. He was promoted in 2010 to Reader in Accelerator Physics.

He is member of the IoP Particle Accelerators and Beams (PAB) Group and organized and chaired the first half day meeting in spring 2010.
