Summary
Dr Jianzhong Shang's current research interest is developing robotic systems for minimally invasive surgery. He is a key member of the surgical robotics team working on robot development and pre-clinical deployment.
Prior to joining the Hamlyn Centre for Robotic Surgery at Imperial College London, he worked as a Research Fellow at the Centre for Automated and Robotic NDT, London South Bank University. His research focus was developing robotic platforms for Non-Destructive Testing involving climbing/swimming/walking robots through a number of EU Framework Programme projects, RobAir, FPSO, RIMINI and CROCELLS.
Dr Jianzhong Shang received his PhD at the Centre for Automated and Robotic NDT, London South Bank University, UK, in 2007. He received his MSc and BEng at the School of Automation and Mechanical Engineering, Beijing Institute of Technology, China, in 1998 and 1991 respectively.
