Jeremy Cohen is an Advanced Research Fellow in the Department of Computing and Director of Research Software Engineering Strategy at Imperial College London. He holds an EPSRC Research Software Engineering (RSE) fellowship, awarded in EPSRC's 2nd RSE fellowships call in 2017. His current work focuses on developing software tools and services to support domain scientists, helping them to make more effective use of a range of different computing infrastructures and make their software easier to deploy and use by their end-users. This work is being undertaken through various multi-disciplinary collaborations across different research areas. He is also interested in the development of models and frameworks that can help to describe and strengthen the processes and supporting activities that lead to higher quality software and enhanced research outputs.

Jeremy is a strong advocate for the benefits of developing quality, maintainable and sustainable research software and the policies that can help to support this. He has been actively involved in the building of communities that help bring together researchers and software developers from a wide range of research domains to learn new skills, share technical knowledge and have the opportunity to network with peers from across the research community. He leads the Imperial Research Software Engineering Community which he founded in 2015, and also runs RSLondon, the regional research software community for London and the South East of England which he started in 2018. RSLondon builds on the success of the wider UK RSE community to offer events and activities based within the region and targeted at individuals based at the region's institutions. RSLondon events have so far attracted individuals from more than 20 different institutions.

Jeremy has a background in Computer Science, undertaking his MSc and PhD in the Department of Computing at Imperial. His past research has been based around e-Science and the development of middleware, tools and services to support and enhance the capabilities available to scientists across a range of different domains. He is an affiliate of Imperial's Research Computing Service (RCS) team and is a member of the Society of Research Software Engineering.
