Summary

K. Fobelets is a professor in nanodevices having contributed to the field with silicium-based nanostructures for sensing, thermoelectricity and supercapacitor as well as TCAD simulations of self-cooling nanowire-based field effect transistors. She has invented a fully knitted version of the respiratory inductive plethysmography belt that is ultra-wearable and ultra-sensitive. Knitted sensors open opportinities for truly wearable garments with multimodal functionality.

She is currently the deputy head of the department, leading aspects in teaching innovation and learning support. She was the Director of Undergraduate Studies between 2014 and 2021. She led the curriculum review in the department and was the chair of the Faculty's e-Learning Implementation Group. She was a member of the College's Senate. She is a member of Imperial College London's Global Development Hub

My vision in research is to support wearable technology within a zero pollution economy. In my research I investigate the use of non-scarce and non-poisonous materials for sensors, energy generators and storage devices. My main focus is on Si- and carbon-based nanomaterials that are suitable candidates for this technology. My goal is to develop non-hazardous, recyclable and flexible devices and garments that can ultimately be used to create responsibly sourced wearable technology.
