K. Fobelets is a Reader in Microelectronics and was until recently the Director of Undergraduate Studies. She led the curriculum review in the Department and was the chair of the Faculty's e-Learning Implementation Group. She is a member of the College's Senate. She is currently on sabbatical to dedicate time on research.
As curriculum review lead I have brought teaching and learning in the Department in line with the College's Teaching and Learning Strategy and strengthened its capability for preparing Electrical Engineering Graduates for the challenges of the 21st century. I have co-launched the Faculty's new Ed Tech Team with an aim to support the Faculty in the pedagogic transformation of its modules.
My vision in research is to support wearable technology within a zero pollution economy. In my research I investigate the use of non-scarce and non-poisonous materials for sensors, energy generators and storage devices. My main focus is on Si- and carbon-based nanomaterials that are suitable candidates for this technology. My goal is to develop non-hazardous, recyclable and flexible devices that can ultimately be used to create responsibly sourced wearable technology.
