AB - The application of an all-fibre processing interferometer to low-coherence sensing systems is investigated. A fibre optic Michelson interferometer is phase-modulated by two piezo-tubes identically coiled with fibre and driven by a common 400Vpk-pk sawtooth signal, providing a range >1mm and dynamically compensating for polarisation induced effects. A laser source is used to provide fringe timing information which is used to apply an interpolating digital filter which effectively enhances the dynamic range.
