Summary

Dr Kevin Woollard received his PhD in 2003 and went on to perform postdoctoral studies at Baker Heart & Diabetes Institute (Melbourne, Australia) in collaboration with Roche (Basel, Switzerland) and fellowship funding from the National Heart Foundation. In 2009 Dr Woollard returned to UK to work in the Division of Immunology & Inflammation at Kings College London through a British Heart Foundation Fellowship, studying monocyte heterogeneity in inflammatory diseases.  In 2012 Dr Woollard became a group leader in the Renal and Vascular Inflammation Section, Department of Medicine.

In 2019 Dr Woollard joined AstraZeneca as Principal Scientist in Renal Bioscience and preclinical drug discovery.

My main interests are in understanding monocyte biology during vascular inflammation.  How monocytes and other circulating blood cells contribute to inflammatory disease through mobilisation, recruitment and migration.  Utilising intravital microscopy to characterise their in-vivo effector functions at the endothelial interface and to understand their role during tissue inflammation - particularly their contribution to cardiovascular and kidney disease.
