Summary

Dr Laksha Bala is a Clinical Research Fellow in Medical Education and a General Practitioner with an interest in Dermatology.

Laksha studied medicine at the University of Cambridge and was awarded a grant during her undergraduate training to conduct clinical research at Yale University. She completed her foundation training in the North Central Thames Deanery and her specialty training at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust during which she undertook an Academic Innovative Training Post in the Department of Primary Care and Public Health at Imperial College London.

Laksha subsequently completed a Fellowship in Clinical Education (Curriculum & Assessment) from 2019 - 2020 at Imperial College School of Medicine. She has been involved in the design and delivery of clinical teaching for all years of undergraduate medicine and assessments for Years 3 and 6.

Her research interests lie in assessment, dermatology education and preparedness for practice.

Laksha holds a Postgraduate Diploma in University Learning and Teaching from Imperial College London and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She is an invited member of the NIHR Clinical Education Incubator Advisory Group and a faculty member of the British College of Dermatology.

She also holds Postgraduate Diplomas in Dermatology (awarded with distinction), Child Health and Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of General Practitioners.
