Summary

Dr. Laura Canevari obtained a BSc (Hon) degree in Biological Science and a PhD in Neurobiology from the University of Pavia, Italy. In London, she worked on a number of postdoctoral projects at the Neurophysiology Deaprtment, National Institute for Medical Research in Mill Hill (Bliss lab) and the Neurochemistry Department, Institute of Neurology, UCL (Clark lab). Research interests included: neurotransmission in long-term potentiation (LTP) and spatial learning; neurochemistry and cell energy metabolism in experimental stroke; nitric oxide metabolism; effects of amyloid-beta on neuronal energy metabolism and cell physiology.

Dr. Canevari is now a part-time Teaching Fellow in the Department of Brain Science, Faculty of Medicine, based at the Hammersmith Hospital campus. In recent years she has embraced innovative educational methods such as Team Based Learning (TBL), blended learning, flipped classroom. 

- Academic lead for the Neuroscience module, year 2, BSc Medical Bioscience (BMB) programme.

- Academic tutorials and practicals, Neuroscience modules, MBBS phase Ia and Ib

- Senior Welfare tutor for year 2 BMB students.

- Screener of applications for admission to the BMB programme.


Dr. Canevari holds a postgraduate qualification in Education (CASLAT) from Imperial College and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
