Summary

Dr Linda Oude Griep is an Imperial College Junior Research Fellow in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Imperial College London. She received her BSc in Nutrition and Dietetics in 2000 (Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, the Netherlands), an MSc in Nutrition and Health in 2003 and a PhD in nutritional epidemiology in 2011 (Wageningen University, the Netherlands).

She started her scientific career as member of the Exective Committee of the Alpha Omega Trial, a multi-centre intervention study to test the effects of omega-3 fatty acids on cardiovascular events in 4,837 myocardial infarction patients (New England Journal of Medicine, 2010). She successfully completed her PhD thesis entitled ‘Fruit and vegetable consumption and the risk of cardiovascular diseases’ that focused specifically the influences of preparation methods, colour, and variety.

Dr Oude Griep's leads novel research on the metabolic role of plant food consumption in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. She currently uses chemometric methods to apply the metabolome-wide association study (MWAS) approach in the analyses of large-scale observational, dietary, and cardiovascular epidemiological data (INTERMAP Study).
