Summary
Practice. Leonardo is a partner of Cónclave Consultora, a leading consultancy company that helps investors and individuals plan, develop and implement urban and architectural projects. He is Director responsible for construction work and building project in municipalities of the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, Mexico since 2015. He did an internship at UN-Habitat headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya in the City Prosperity Initiative of the Department of Research and Capacity Development (2015) where he also participated in the Second Preparatory Committee for Habitat III of the United Nations. Prior to this, he worked at a landscape architectural office in Dublin, Ireland (2014 - 2015).
Training. Leonardo is a PhD working on cities, climate change governance and health. His supervisors are Dr Audrey de Nazelle and Prof Clive Potter at the Centre for Environmental Policy. He is part of the MRC Centre for Environment and Health funded by UKRI. Leonardo conducted a specialisation in Urban Environment, Sustainability and Climate Change at the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies of Rotterdam, The Netherlands in 2017. He holds a MSc in Urban Management and Development from Erasmus University Rotterdam, The Netherlands (2016-2017), thesis supervised by Veronica Olivotto, and an undergrad in Architecture from the University of Guadalajara (2008-2013). Leonardo has been two times recipient (PhD & MSc) of the prestigious scholarship CONACYT (the Mexican National Council of Science and Technology) and is a Bank of Mexico former grantee (2016-2017).
Research area. Leonardo is particularly interested in the management and governance of climate change in cities, and the interlinkage between urban science, policy and practice.
Teaching. Leonardo held the position of President of the academy of environment of the University Centre of Art, Architecture and Design part of the University of Guadalajara where he was a Professor too in the degrees of Urban Planning and Environment and Architecture teaching courses related to climate change, environment and urban regulations (2018-2020). He directed and co-directed theses in several occasions while also being president and secretary of jury in professional degree examinations. He was responsible for the development and updating of various course programmes.
Dissemination and media. Leonardo has delivered talks in different forums and participated in dialogue tables as moderator and presenter. He has been invited to various radio and television programs.
Leonardo is a member of the Imperial College Union, Royal College of Science Union, Graduate Students Union and of several clubs and societies.
Leonardo is passionate about street photography, music festivals and football.
