Summary
Lionel Tan is a Postdoctoral Clinician Scientist Fellow within the Gram Positive Molecular Pathogenesis Group, Section of Infectious Diseases and Immunity. He is also an Honorary Consultant in Infectious Diseases and Internal Medicine at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
He underwent his basic medical training at Cambridge University and Barts and the Royal London Hospital Medical school, and completed his specialist clinical training in London. He undertook a PhD funded by the Wellcome Trust Clinical PhD programme at Imperial College with Chris Tang investigating the interaction between Neisseria meningitidis and the complement regulator factor H.
He was subsequently awarded a Wellcome Trust Early Postdoctoral Fellowship to investigate the interaction between Streptococcus pyogenes and the complement system, working with Shiranee Sriskandan at Imperial College and Lars Bjorck at Lund University.
