Summary

LJ Edwards is a Teaching Fellow in Professional Values and Behaviours and a GP Trainee in Oxford.

She graduated from Imperial College School of Medicine in 2018 and undertook her Academic Foundation Training in South Wales, with a special interest in Medical Education. During this time, she was a Bevan Exemplar (Bevan Commission) and led on the delivery of a standardised preparation for practice course for final year medical students across Wales.

She worked as a Clinical Teaching Fellow at Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey, teaching medical students and working within the hospital's Specialist Palliative Medicine team. On top of her paid teaching commitments, she was an Honorary Clinical Lecturer & Professionalism Tutor for St George's University of London. She completed her MSc in Medical Education with the University of South Wales in 2021, with a dissertation entitled "Professional Identity Formation in Medical Students & Doctors from Underrepresented Backgrounds".

She became a Member of the Academy of Medical Educators and subsequently elected to their Council in mid-2021. She is currently the Lead of the Academy's Developing Medical Educators Group.

In August 2021, she started GP Specialist Training in Oxford, and currently trains Less Than Full Time to pursue a parallel career within Medical Education. After some time spent as a Senior Education Fellow at an affiliated NHS Trust, she joined Imperial College's School of Public Health in November 2022 as a Teaching Fellow.

She is involved in the development and delivery of the Professional Values and Behaviours Domain at the medical school, and regularly teaches on Clinical Communications, Lifestyle Medicine and Prevention and Preparation for Practice sessions. She is also engaged in the evaluative and research activity within the department and is keen to expand the scholarly portfolio of the team. Alongside her paid role, she is Co-Lead of the Imperial Clinical Teaching Fellow (CTF) Network

LJ's professional interests include professional identity, clinical communication, clinical leadership, faculty development and widening participation in medicine. She is keen to maintain her current trajectory of building a career as an NHS GP alongside an academic educationalist.
