Dr Martín Barrère is a Research Associate at the Institute for Security Science and Technology at Imperial College London, UK. He joined Imperial in October 2014. His current research work focuses on cyber security for national critical infrastructure. His main research interests include network security, attack graphs, security metrics, cyber-physical security, network management, risk analysis, cyber-physical systems, industrial control systems, vulnerability management, autonomic computing, network hardening, security monitoring and digital forensics.
Dr Barrère received a PhD degree in Computer Science from the University of Lorraine, France, in June 2014. During his thesis (March 2011 - March 2014), he worked in the Madynes Research Team at INRIA (French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control), supervised by Prof. Dr. Olivier Festor and Dr. Rémi Badonnel. His thesis targets the design and development of novel approaches for managing vulnerabilities in autonomic networks and systems.
Prior to this, Dr Barrère received a Computer Engineering degree in 2010 after graduating from the University of the Republic, Montevideo, Uruguay. There, he is currently a member of the Computer Security group (GSI) at the Department of Computer Science (InCo) of the Engineering School. He has been a member of InCo since 2006. He also has 4 years of industry experience in the areas of network management and software development (March 2006 - March 2010).
