Summary
Miguel is the Biosciences Core Facilities Manager for the Department of Bioengineering. Miguel is the main contact for Tissue Culture, Microscopy, 3D-Bioprinting, Cryostorage, Biological and Laser Safety, and coordinates a team that looks after Genomics, Microbiology, Histology, Utilities and PPE.
Miguel's role include:
- Technical support
- Training and competency assessments (Tissue Culture, 3D cultures, Microscopy, Bioplotter)
- Managing of the Imperial - Leica Imaging Hub
- Preparation and revision of safety protocols
- Servicing and maintenance of equipment
- Assisting the Technical Team and Researchers in other areas and equipment (qPCR, plate reader, molecular cloning, PPE, purchases)
- General laboratory managing.
Miguel did a MPharm in Pharmacy and Pharmacology in Universidad de Alcalá, a MSc in Molecular Biomedicine in Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and a PhD in 3D-Bioprinting of Cancer Models in Heriot-Watt University. In addition to this, he has postdoctoral experience in Cancer Research at Barts Cancer Institute and has worked as clinical and community pharmacist.
