Outline of the Research Program of M. Ivanov

Imaging and controlling dynamics of matter at the level of electrons, and understanding the role of quantum coherence in molecules and nanoscale assemblies are the themes that underlie general directions of my research program and its vector of interests, which points from gas-phase atoms and molecules (current to mid-term) to condensed matter systems (long-term).
My current research program is built around three inter-related directions:
I. Ultrafast dynamic imaging
II. Weak-field & strong-field control of quantum dynamics
III. Connections and applications
This research program is multi-disciplinary. It goes beyond strong-field and attosecond physics and coherent control, to the interface with quantum information, nonlinear optics, the development of novel light sources, laser machining, ultrafast physical chemistry, etc.
